I am a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Kelaniya following a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at the Department of English Language Teaching (DELT). My enduring passion lies in working with children, and the act of educating them brings me a profound and unparalleled sense of joy.      Teaching Philosophy Teaching as a Melodic Art My perspective on teaching is comparable to guiding an orchestra, where students act as members of the orchestra while the teacher plays the role of the conductor. The classroom becomes a dynamic stage, with each student playing a unique instrument, contributing to the collective composition of learning. The teacher, like a conductor, guides the group, setting the rhythm, bringing out the best in each participant, and ensuring a harmonious blend of knowledge. The classroom, in comparison, is a vibrant place, where the teacher guides the learners to find the joy of knowledge, produces well-balanced individuals who possess physical, social, emotional, and academic competence, and helps the students to find their talents by making them well-equipped to confront the challenges of life.   Reflective summary According to my pedagogical philosophy, teaching is a collaborative journey where students are not mere recipients of instructions but active participants in shaping their educational growth. I started my internship journey at Mayfair English School, Wahakotte as a student teacher and my role as a teacher goes beyond the traditional boundaries of an instructor by guiding students along the intricate pathways of learning. Further, it involves a balance of guiding while allowing room for autonomy and self-directed exploration. I was assigned to two grades, grade 6 and grade 7 which comprised 8 students and 10 students respectively.
